HOW DO I INSTALL PEOPLEFINDER CD-ROMs ON MY COMPUTER ?
- First, determine the drive letter for your CD-ROM drive, and the drive
letter for the hard drive on which
- you will be installing the PeopleFinder software. You will need this
information when you first run the
- PeopleFinder "INSTALL" program. (Note: you will need approximately
ten (10) Megabytes of free space
- on whichever hard drive you select.)
-
- Next, run the "INSTALL" program contained in every PeopleFinder
CD-ROM. The easiest way to
- activate this program is by temporarily quitting Windows and going
to your terminal's DOS prompt.
- (Under Windows 3.x you should go to your "Main" folder, and
click on "MS-DOS Prompt". Under
- Windows 95, use your "Start" button to navigate directly
to "MS-DOS Prompt".) If you are unfamiliar
- with this procedure, please consult your Windows' manual.
-
- To run the PeopleFinder "INSTALL" program, once you are at
a DOS prompt, first switch to the letter assigned to your CD-ROM drive's
prompt. (The following example would apply if your hard drive was
- labeled "C" and your CD-ROM drive was labeled "F".)
-
-
-
-
- Then, at your CD-ROM drive's DOS prompt, type "INSTALL" (as
shown in the following example).
-
-
-
- The "INSTALL" program will first ask you to identify the
letter assigned to your CD-ROM drive (as shown in this example)...
-
-
-
- ...and will then ask you to identify the letter assigned to your hard
drive (as shown in this example)...
-
-
-
- The PeopleFinder software will now automatically be installed on the
hard drive that you selected, and a
- directory will also be created on your hard drive to hold the PeopleFinder
software. Although you can
- name the directory anything you wish, it is recommended that you keep
the default directory names (ie.
- "PFTEX" for the PeopleFinder Texas CD-ROMs, as shown in the
above example).
-
- During the installation process, the "INSTALL" program will
keep you notified of its progress (as shown
- in the example below).
-
-
-
-
- Installation typically will not take more than 60 seconds.
-
-
- After the installation process has been completed, you will see a message
screen appear, confirming
- that installation has been successful (as shown in the following example).
-
-
-
- Finally, to run the PeopleFinder software, switch to the directory
into which the software was installed...
-
-
- ...and type the appropriate program name (the below example is for
PeopleFinder Texas)...
-
-
- If you are running Windows 3.x or Windows 95, it is recommended that
you create an icon or a shortcut
- for each PeopleFinder program, so that it can be run from the desktop.
Consult your Windows manual if you are unfamiliar with this procedure.
-
- As your PeopleFinder has not been programmed with any "meter"
or expiration date, usage is unlimited.
-
- We recommend that you register your purchase
as soon as possible, so that you can
- receive notification of upgrades and discounts available only to
registered PeopleFinder
- purchasers. You can register right now,
or by telephone or fax.
-
- Again, thank you for your purchase, and good hunting!
-
-
-
